This Montblanc Muses Special Edition fountain pen is dedicated to one of the most charismatic sopranos of the 20th century, Maria Callas. With her unique talent, passion, and personality, she embodied a certain ideal of the operatic diva during the 20th century. In some of the world’s greatest opera houses, from La Scala in Milan, to the Paris Opera and New York’s Metropolitan Opera, she was known as “La Divina”, which means the divine one.
This special edition fountain pen highlights one of Maria Callas' favourite colours, turquoise, in the precious resin of both the cap and barrel, while reflecting Maria Callas’s graceful beauty in its elegant silhouette. In memory of her sea-encircled Greek homeland, the platinum-coated clip is decorated with a matching stone that is reminiscent of the sparkling turquoise of the Aegean Sea. A costume detail from one of her recognizable bel canto roles, Bellini’s “Norma”, is reflected in a pattern of laurel leaves surrounding the platinum-coated cone of the edition along with the embossed signature of the celebrated soprano. The handcrafted Au 585 solid gold, rhodium-coated nib is embossed with the kohl outlined cat eyes, resembling her image, as well as the name that is inseparable from Maria Callas: “La Divina”.
