Jimi Hendrix, the Guitar God

Montblanc has unveiled 2022’s Great Characters writing instrument, say hello to the Jimi Hendrix collection.

Jimi “Guitar God” Hendrix is widely known as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. The career of James Marshall 'Jimi' Hendrix (born 1942) spanned just four years, but that brief time was enough to immortalise his genius with out-of-this-world sounds and his sophisticated technical skill.

Montblanc’s range of special edition writing instruments features hints at Hendrix’s life. Crafted in precious resin, the black barrel represents the wah-wah pedal. The creamy-white precious resin cap is a homage to Jimi’s guitar, while the geometric pattern recalls the pattern of his guitar strap.

The rollerball and fountain pen feature the date of the Monterey Pop Festival, '18-06-1967', which is engraved on the platinum-coated barrel ring. The red resin cone end symbolises the pilot light of a Marshall Super Lead amplifier.
