Montblanc & It's History

Montblanc & It's History

Montblanc is a luxury brand renowned for its quality writing instruments, watches, leather items, and accessories. The brand was founded in 1906 by Claus-Johannes Voss, Alfred Nehemias, and August Eberstein in Hamburg, Germany. The trio aimed to create a range of writing instruments that combined notable craftsmanship, elegant design, and advanced functionality. Montblanc's first product, the "Rouge et Noir" fountain pen, was made in 1909 and marked the start of a legacy.

Here is a brief overview of the early Montblanc pieces and the luxury brand's history: Rouge et Noir Fountain Pen: introduced in 1909, the Rouge et Noir fountain pen was named after the well-known novel by Stendhal. It featured a revolutionary protection mechanism that avoided leaks and turned the brand into an iconic luxury brand that was easily recognised.

Meisterstück Fountain Pen: In 1924, Montblanc released the long-lasting Meisterstück fountain pen, which in translation is "Masterpiece" in German. This pen received recognition instantly because of its extraordinary craftsmanship, reliability, and timeless design.

Expanding into leather goods: in the 1930's, Montblanc extended its product range and commenced to create leather goods which included wallets, briefcases, and travel accessories, which had the same level of craftsmanship and attention to detail as it did to its writing devices. Fast forward to the current period, Montblanc now offers a vast range of products in many staple colours, and updated versions of many iconic and original pieces.
